Update :

Work has been slow on this build as most of my painting has been done in my garage and it's winter here (which means 0 degrees celcius when I have time to paint). I finally have moved my painting inside after building a custom spray booth and extraction fan setup so the police car is finally starting to look like a police car :

Next up is some more masking, more painting and then it should all be done!

New update :

Repaired Thor's arm now, but noticed that there was a crack in the other one. Have repaired that and repainted the skin areas.

Also, my client has sent me the Police Car that mounts in the Hulks hands. Damn it's huge!! I'll be starting on that as soon as I finish up on the figures.

Any thoughts so far?

Thanks for the nice comments guys. It was a shame that I had to paint over the Hulk as the original paint job was quite good when viewed in person (my photos didn't really do it justice!).

I think he should cut out the middle man and just have you build/paint his kits from the begining...

Tiny little comment there comet, but the hulk's eyes are green like his skin.

This guy should be happy he sent his stuff to you for repair, the paint job your giving them is so much better then what they had

Update time :

Finished up the face of the Hulk and it is now ready for a wash or two. My client also sent me up the Thor companion piece, which unfortunately suffered the same fate as the Hulk did (the arm broke off). So far, I've repaired it and it is now ready for paint :

I'm on holidays at the moment (attending a model expo interstate), so I plan on painting the arm and torso next weekend when I get back home.

I've never encountered hollow cast resin before. Interesting... I I'll have to look into it more.

I wasn't trying to knock the original paint job. It looked great. I just meant it wasn't my preference. He did a good job of assembly as well if it wasn't going to be mailed. Filling the parts is the best way to stabalize and ensure the parts won't be going anywhere. I think he forgot to take shipping into account when he assembled it. The plaster was a good move on your part.

It's not vinyl, it's hollow cast resin as far as I can tell.

As for the assembly, it would've been hard to guage the exact depth of the connecting pieces as they are covered (aka no holes - the one seen in the pics is from the breakage). The original builder had done a great job building and painting, it's just the package was handled a bit rough in transit to the fellow who owns it.

I only filled it with plaster as it worked perfectly and would've cost a hell of a lot less than filling it up with resin.

That looks a lot like the Horizon Hulk kit, but I could be wrong.

The hollow material screams vinyl to me as well. Most of the super hero kits were casted in vinyl.

After reading the WIP, I can say you're doing a better job of fixing the Hulk than the original modeler did assembling it. Most modelers who do vinyl almost always fill the kits with plaster so I find it odd that the original modeler didn't do that. It looks to me like he was cheaping out on materials so he could keep an extra few bucks in his pocket. If that kit was filled before shipping, I can almost guarantee that those breaks wouldn't have occured.

I can also tell that from the looks of the original paint job, he would have had to have used Model Master acrylics. They're the only paint I know of that can get that kind of finish. It's also important to note that vinyl parts will ONLY accept acrylic paint. Everything else won't dry no matter what you do.

I'm also liking your paint job a lot more. I find your colors to be more in tune with the comic instead of the movie. The original paint scheme just didn't fit the sculpt if you ask me.

Overall, great work so far. I look forward to seeing this finished and I also look forward to seeing future figure kits from you. BTW, I'm a fan of your other works.

The Incredible Hulk (commission build) WIP

I've recently been working on a repair and re-paint of an Incredible Hulk kit for a client.

http://www.ghostofzeon.com/wip/hulk/hulk_repair.html

One arm and one leg were broken off when my client received the kit from another builder and he was after someone local to make the repair for him. So far, I've repaired the damaged limbs, and have almost repainted the entire kit (been working on this for a month or so now).

Thoughts and suggestions are always welcome so let me know what you think so far (this is my first attempt at a figure kit so I'm interested on how it looks).
