Fur or Hair on beasts, monsters etc.
Posted by StormRising on Monday, April 27, 2009 11:12 PM

I am building a scale model of Dracula in bat form from the 1992 film by Francis Ford Coppola.

This is how I'd like it to look. I have gotten the painting done. Now it's on to hair. I am looking for information on how I might go about applying fur or hair to sections of his body. I would prefer a almost combed look much like what is pictured . What products or teqniques might there be to apply fur like this?

I'd suggest using theatrical crepe hair, available at costume supply shops, or even some of the tall "grass" from Woodland Scenics...  For short hair, I'd suggest using Static Grass..

I like Hons' suggestions .... but what about combing out fibers from black/ dark felt? Just depends on how "straight"/ combed you want to hair to look....

Thank you. I've looked at a pack of grass at the local hobby shop. Seems like a good idea. I might try it. But I'm holding off on buying any to see if something else comes along. I want a super realistic hair that I can take the time to place as if combed.
