Heer uniforms were Feldgrau (Field Grey), a shade of grey-green... The EXACT shade is a crap-shoot, since the color varied according to year of manufacter, number of launderings, etc.. Tamiya's Field Grey is pretty close to "new" Feldgrau... I use it as a base color, then start the shade variations...

There's some good repro-pics here to help out with color selections..

saw those here, in figgies. i'll likely go with mm acrylics, but what i'm wanting to know is what the uniform colors were post late '42

well...that's very vague but let's see, humbrol enamles are all i ever use and if you check out my mayhem in the hood dio  (pg19) in that forum you'll see the results i get figure painting wise from them. alot of people swear by vellejo acrylics (no me but whatever). some people use model master enamels/acrylics. some people use just oil paints...ya see my point here trak?? doesn't really matter, enamel/acrylic. the box art suggests a shade of green, but i suspect that changed sometime after '42, which is when they'll be set

it's completely up to you. any paints are "suitable"!!! what matters is your preference to paints. enamels or acrylics!!
