Bill, Andrew, thank you very much!

Didn't even place in the Austin contest, but no surprise. There were some really great figures presented there yesterday. One painter in particular just swept us all out the door. Simply magnificent. It inspires me to practice practice practice. On to my next figure.

Made a decent amount of money selling some unwanted modeling materials, though.

Thanks again for looking, and for commenting.

Steve,

That is really amazing, those Tank figures are just incredible, and your paint/detailing is the icing on the cake.  I think the snow on the fence is way cool.

Got my man here all dirty. Wanted cold and snowy, but slushy and muddy as well. Base was stained and sealed. I'm thinking of entering this guy at the Austin Scale Modelers Society show this Saturday.

If you've looked again, I thank you again.

Quite alright-

Sorry to hear the Gel lost it's volume, is this one done then? Or just for now. Looks great either way!

Awesome figure Steve!  I really like the Tahk figures and this is a fine example of what youocan do with them!!

Thumbs Up [tup]

Hey Chris, sorry for my late response. Thank you, I appreciate your encouragement.

I used Artist's Acrylic Gel medium with white paint mixed in. I intended it to have more volume, sitting on the fence. Just didn't work out that way, settled down and now it just looks painted on, to me. I have some other artist mediums I was going to try, but just moved on to my next figure instead.

Thanks again for your comments.

Really? I thought the snow on the fence looked great- maybe if you added some kind of snow-like sludge (maybe celluclay/sculptamold as is with no coloring) to give it a thicker 3D feel?

I think it looks pretty good Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks, guys.

Chris... yeah, the fence is scratchbuilt. I keep breaking it, too. It was one of those situations where I built something to see how it would look. The "see if" version looked OK so I kept it, instead of making something a little stronger, more durable.

The snow is plaster of Paris, sprinkled on, then shot it with water through a spray bottle. What set, stayed. The rest blasted off with a bottle of compressed air. Not too thrilled with how it sits on the fence.

That looks great Steve! I've never really been able to do very good figure work, let alone a vignette of just a figure! Really like the way it looks. Thumbs Up [tup]

As those guys said, Nice figure Steve. Nice photos too - you say it looks flat in person? Tuff to get that w/ flash or lights isn't it?    I like to shoot outdoors/overcast, but then I'm slave to the weather.(Living at the beach I get more than my share of 'overcast" mornings)       Hopefully, Maybe by time you're really done, you'll be happy w/ how it photographs?                Gotta love that Tank resin!

WOW! Great work- especially like the face, nice 5 o'clock shadow.

What did you use for snow? I like the build up on the wooden fence (was the fence scratchbuilt btw?) looking forward to seeing you finish it up, the pants/boots will look great when weathered.

Here's one that I'm finishing up. He needs some more dirtyness added to boots and pant legs, and he's not permanently attached to the base yet. Additionally, the base is not stained yet, will be stained shortly. He seems a bit shiny, due to the direct sunlight. he's pretty flat in real life, tho.

He's a TAHK figure, painted with Vallejos, with some acrylic and oil shading. I'm really trying to get better at the the Vallejo shading technique, having hard time letting go of the oil method. However, I know the arcylic shading looks much better, when done right.

Thanks for looking. All comments, critiques and suggestions welcome.
