Help for a new guy here.
Posted by chiefyost on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 8:37 PM

I just got a Verlinden 120mm captain cavlry of the plains. My question is how do you remove the flash from the figure part's? Also what kind of glue do you use for this type of figure?

This is my first attempt at a figure this size. I paint the 1/72 scale soldiers and figured I would give one of these guy's a try.

use c.a. glue. and use your exacto knife on the flash. do not be afraid of it but cut it gently. some people use scotch brite pads and fine grit sand paper to finish it off after removing the "sprue's" (cant think of the actual name at the moment). i use my small files on mine. use a razor saw on the "sprue's" and cut it leaving a small amount of it left on the figure. then use your exacto to clean it up. then finish like said above! hope that helps! camo nailed it... one thing I have also done in the past, if I doubt the integrity of a CA-glued joint, is to drill a hole about the size of a dress maker's pin and plant a pin it there. Ex.- drill a hole through the shoulder, into the torso. Then, snip the head off of a dress maker's pin and glue 'er in there. Conceal with the hole with the "putty" of your choice.

camo- I think "casting plugs" might have been the term you were looking for. As for me, I'm brain-fogging on the real term for "putty". Late, brain going to sleep without me.
