It's an excellent reference if you like Verlinden's style of painting.  Most of it concerns oils and his techniques for using them.

Gotta admit, it makes you want to give it a try.

Sign - Ditto [#ditto]  My wife gave me a copy of the Verlinden Way volume 5 & 6 for Christmas and I L-O-V-E-D her more than ever for giving me a great gift to help me improve my modeling skills after not doing for 20+ years!  After reading those, I had to get more... so I bought the first volume from Amazon.  I personally like the first volume better because it contains larger pictures making it easier for me to study the work closely.  The volume 5 is great for those who want to improve figure painting like me.  I hope I can get all volumes one day.  Go for it...

treetopper!!!! this is my bible! i use it for all my figure painting. very very very good book. deals with oils and enamels...specifically humbrol (best paints out there in my opinion). buy it, and you'll never care about another book again...assuming you paint with enamels and oils! Big Smile [:D] again (just my opinion).
