New to figures
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, December 22, 2003 1:23 AM
I was just wondering if anybody could give me like some basic beginner tips on how to build figures. I have only built cars and am interested in building some figures to change the pace a little. Any help would be much appreciated...thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

What type of figures and what scale are you interested in?

Also, is there any kits that you would suggest for a first time figure builder? thanks again

Hmm, tough one.

Each genre (Fantasy, Anime, Monsters, Military, etc) got their beginners kits as well as their advanced kits and their own techniques and methods of finishes.
The next choice would be material of course, most common are styrene (plastic models), resin kits, soft-vinyl kits.

Hence the question in which direction your interest lies, if you can be a bit more specific it will be easier for me and others to suggest a kit to start on.

Monsters in styrene, here I think Polar Lights will be your best bet.

The Kits were originally released a long time ago by Aurora and are now being re-issued, not that tough to assemble and you should be able to get them easily and cheaply too.
