Large scale WW1 Tommy?
Posted by DaveyB on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 7:01 PM

Angel [angel]Hi all,

I've had a good old Google with no luck so far, so maybe you lot might have some ideas, or at least be able to tell me I don't have a hope...

I'd like to get hold of a figure of a British WW1 infantryman. Largest I've found in a pose I like is 1/32 (www.scalelink.co.uk/acatalog/British_Soldiers.html SMB01 - SMB08)

However, I'm after something larger. 1/16 maybe ? (the bigger the better with these bad eyes and clumsy hands!) You know, something like the Tamiya 1/16 Luftwaffe pilot figure, only a WW1 Tommy Atkins. Preferably a kit and unpainted - not fussy am I? Angel [angel]

I've got some sentimental reasons for wanting something like this, so any help you could give would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

Hey Davey,

There are some WWI figures, in 120mm, at Firing Line Figures. A 1/16 Tommy found at Jaguar Models

I hope this helps. If you have something special planned to commemorate someone, do tell Smile [:)]

Thanks, will check them out.

My great uncle died on the western front in 1918. I paid http://www.fourteeneighteen.co.uk/ to research his military history (highly recommended service btw!) and now I just want to build something commemorative I guess.

I'm fussy about the pose because I want something with a bit more gravitas than a vignette, if you know what I mean? This is the war memorial in my home town:

This pose in a large enough scale for my abilities would be perfect!

Have a look here

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Thanks. I'd already seen those. If my relative had been a Lewis gunner then I'd have got that one straight away as it's the kid of natural and not "dynamic" pose that I'm after.
