He's a great figure no matter what your experience.  You could do him simple, like I did, because he is nice and open without alot of details to take care of.  But if you are more advanced you could do a lot of little things to really make it your own.  If I could do him again I'd do some more shading on his cloak and definately a little blood on that mace.

I have the necro too and it rules! man that sheild is just nuts!

I have been toying with how to paint it but in theend I think I am going to give up with the levels of washes and glazes Ihave been doing, strip it back down and go ahead and do a proper paint on it.

the sheild is just screaming yellow at me, I will have to work it from there.....

If you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong! Build to please yourself and they will flame you every time!

Thank you for the compliments everyone.  Yeah, BlackFletch is my favorite, hands down.  I love his eyes.  I don't know how you people do eyes, but I cut a crappy brush down to one bristle, and then cut that bristle very short.  My only problem is that the tiny amt of paint of the bristle dries before I can get it from the jar to the model!

CJ: I'm sure I did at least two coats.  Probably three on the robed guy.  I use Games Workshop paints and I don't usually thin them, I just try to spread the coat thin so it dont glop on everywhere.

As to the base, feel free.  I got the idea from someone here to make little pebbles for the bases.  If you look at the top you can see the very natural looking thumbprint on the cliff top...

Those are looking pretty good! That goblin archer is pretty bad a** too.

I'm gonna steal that base idea - it looks very natural, just like real rock.

You got a nice even coat on those reds - did they give you any trouble? I always have to do like 4 coats to get reds to look right.

More please! Big Smile [:D]

Cool. Good finish. IT's always fun to paint a few of those guys once in a while...

I'm not sure what you call the scale, but they are the same size as warhammer figs.

Thank you for the compliments.

edit: Actually, looking at the pictures, those squares on my mat are one inch squares.  So the bases are about a square inch and I'd guess the figs are a little taller than that.

My latest gaming minis

So these are the minis I've done so far.  I don't play any games with them, I just like painting them.  All of these guys are done with Citadel acrylics.

First up is Tristan, the first one I did.

Athak, Necro SRGT.  I really dig this guys freaky shield.  I didn't do much shading because I hadn't figured out how yet.

Next up is my dwarven musician.  The ground is simply model rr substrate.

And now my favorite...Blackfletch, Goblin Skeeter!!  I did him in one night and really couldn't believe it.  He is on a cliff overlooking a battle, I'm not sure he cares who he hits...  I made the base by flattening out a disc of kraft modeling clay, I got a big tub for a couple of bucks and only used a tiny portion.  After letting it dry for a day or two I started breaking it up to make small boulders for my minis.  I kept a big flat piece for blackfletch and got enough in a baggie for a hundred more minis.  Then I painted it to look like a cliff picture I got online.  This was my first real attempt to shade and highlight.  Hes shaded a bit dark but thats cause hes dirty.

Any comments or questions are very welcome.
