Here's a photo of a Verlinden bust I painted last year and was totally enjoyable. I think the facial tones leave alot to be desired though...I am new at 200 mm scale busts and will gladly take any tips on painting very detailed faces. Cool [8D]

Really impressive. I happen to think the skin tones looks quite realistic. I usually go for the smaller, 28 mm miniatures. One question though. Is japanese armor usually black?, I have some unpainted samurai models, but I'm at a loss to find reference pics on different colored pieces of armor.

Thank you ...I didn't have any reference photos to go by other than what was on the box and that is how I chose the colors. What the photo doesn't show is that I drybrushed copper and gunmetal over the black to give it a metallic sheen.

Errex, samurai armour was any color under the rainbow. But for the most part, depending on the period, the major elements (the breast-plate, the helmet, gauntlets, leggings) were black, red, or varying shades of dark blue. The lacing and under-garments were, like I say, any and every color you can imagine, very ornate. A fully-armoured samurai was, in my opinion, one of the most breath-taking figures in medieval history.

If either of you need reference material on the subject, an excellent one is a book called "The Samurai - Recreated in color photographs" By Mitsuo & Ghislaine Kruit, published by Europa Militaria.

Which models do you have to paint, yet? Any 120mm? I'm always on the look out for nice 120mm samurai stuff.

I read in one of the posts that www.boomspeed.com hosts pictures for free, and I made an account with them. I then uploaded photos from my computer to that site, and then linked it to this one with information written by DVoss showing how to do this. I then tested it first in the testing forum and then created my post. Good luck! Blush [:I]
