1/72 Preiser - WWII German PaK40 Crew

This set is special because it is pretty uncommon to have a kit dedicated to artillery men, but without including the gun. In fact, concerning mass production kits, this is an unique feature in 1/72 scale.
The images presents not only the standard poses, to which I added only pistol holsters, but also the conversions I did on those poses. Except the standard content, I used other three boxes of the same set. The conversions were achieved mixing various body parts of the same set as well as some others taken from Preisers Mortar in combat kit. Likewise, I made use of plenty of palms available in different other Preiser sets. Gear is mostly Preiser available on the specialized sprues of the same company. Thereare also few scratch-builds such as straps, scope and lens cover for binoculars. Some of the converted poses might look odd at first glance, but when set in a diorama, the situation is changed. An example in this regard is provided by the last image with the sniper. The conversions feature both artillery-men for various guns and infantry troopers and most of them are inspired by reference images (but this is a different story to be covered in a separate topic).
There are also several images with the figs and some guns in the field. The guns are not very qualitative and I used them just for you to better see hwo these figs fit on cannons. Camouflage smocks are painted in Waffen SS patterns, spring/summer and autumn/winter oak leaf, ribbed edge, pane tree while some trousers are done with 1944 Pea Dot.

I wish you will enjoy the conversions and the painting of these figs and your opinions on them are highly welcome.

Very nice figs.  i have their tank crew set and I have to say the detail and moldings are pretty darn good for such a small figure.

Thanks a lot and indeed, the Preiser tankers are excellent, not only the sculpture, but also their poses. Furthermore, conversions on them are really easy.....Smile

Maybe next year I will review kits with WWII German tankers....Big Smile

Nice! You did some great work with such tiny figures. I'm afraid my hands aren't anywhere nearly that steady.
