heh, well zombies are something I know a good bit about and one thing I can tell you that you could do to really fix this up.  A dirty up her clothes a bit, and B alot more blood.  Especially with the blood dripping from that bone, it would be all over her clothes and front.

also, the white on her face seems a bit overdone, maybe lessen it a little bit to match the rest of the skin tone.

Looks awesome!  Needs a little blood spatter on her though.  I mean as if she were sprayed with it as opposed to gashed.  Unless I don't see it.   Thumbs Up [tup]

and remember, a slit neck causes ALOT of blood loss.  Go watch Sweeny todd heh, even if it may have beena  bit exagerated

Unless she already bled out from other injuries. Smile [:)]

That said, it's for a painting contest. As authentic as blood everywhere might be, it tends to do poorly in judging, since splattering paint takes far less skill, and covers up the stuff I spent lots of time on. Same for dirt. If this had been a diorama with several figures, or had she not been the primary focus, I might have gone for more guts and filth, but as a single figure, less is more, so to speak.

I do agree that the face is a little flat. It is less so in reality, but probably could have had a bit more tone to it. I do usually highlight faces more that the rest of a figure to draw attention to it as a focal point (and to emphasize an overhead light source) so it's not entirely accidental. I painted this one right up to the deadline for submission, so fixing everything wasn't much of an option. Since it wasn't as obvious IRL, I let it go in favor of other touch ups. (And, as per my usual policy on contest entries, once it's submitted, I call it done and do not go back to fix things. I like to leave them in the state they were entered.)

See, thats what alot of people might think, just splatter it.  But if its running down from the neck it would stain the shirt, and the furthur down the less of the stain, would take alot of skill to get the right shading for that.

Hmm. You know, you're right on that one. A little on the shirt probably would have been smart.

Oh, also: The figure is a plastic toy similar in quality to green army men, from October Toys. The sculpting on these is actually really good, but the plastic they're made from is a really soft PVC, which is terrible to work with. It took the paint well, but it was too soft to file or scrape the seam lines. I ended up taking an Exacto blade, honing it until it was extremely sharp, and slicing off the seams, almost like fileting a piece of meat. Which ruined the surface texture (despite being cheap plastic toys, there's actually a lot of texture to them) wherever I cut a seam off. I was able to resculpt it a bit, so it's not terrible, but it was a pain.

I did re-do her hair, though. She had Bettie Page bangs, which I think look ugly. (Yes, even on a zombie.) So I sliced off the bangs, part of her hair, and part of her forehead, then resculpted them so that she had long hair all around, with a loose strand.

Here's the full shot, and a close-up of the groundwork.

Well you did a top notch job, when I looked at it I saw no bits that stood out as 'this was sculpted' all looked origional.
