200mm Crow Bust
Posted by ajlafleche on Sunday, December 6, 2009 11:00 AM

Here is a Verlinden 200mm Indian bust. He's painted to resemble a Crow (Absoroke) warrior with whitened pompadour. The kit consisted of a grand total of two pieces, the plinth and the bust. He was started 4 or 5 years ago and I was never happy with the early flesh of bead word. I resurrected him a little over a month ago and finished him up. His lower face has had ochre war paint added, hence, the yellower tint. He is painted in Vallejo and Andrea acrylics with some GW tanned flesh for his lips.

Excellent painting Yes.  The war paint & beadwork are exceptional.  Thanks for sharing.

Great bust! And I have to agree that the beads (wampom???) look nicely detailed.

Thanks for the comments, guys. Gamera, incoming PM. New Hampshire, sounds like you're going to have a pretty interesting tree!

Al,

Beautiful.

How do you pick your subjects?  Is it the 'kit' that attracts you, or are you motivated to portray particular groups/tribes, etc.?

Thanks, Boyd,

As to choice...I started down the path of Indian figures after having done a lot of ACW. The first ones I got were the first two Andrea Woodland figures. I was seriously inspired by the work of Christian Petit of France who brought his work over tpLong Island and World Expo. Initially, I was focussed on the Eastern tribes, then found a plains figure or two while bottom feeding at a show. Generally, it's the pose or the box art that draws me in. As far as this bust...I have no idea where or when I got it!
