The Duke

Here is something a little different than the busts I usually do. A friend of mine asked if I could fix repair and repaint a 3 foot plaster caricature of John Wayne. The hat rim was cracked so badly the entire brim had to be replace with high density foam. I drilled wooden dowels throught the brim into the plaster to locate the new brim and bonded everything with a 2 part epoxy. The figure was then primed and repainted with Michaels' acrylics:

thanks for looking..!

Nice job.

Looks like the Duke.  Nice repair.  One glove, usually on the dominant hand, is not all that uncommon a sight with cowboys for some reason.  I think some types of rodeo gloves do not come as a pair, only a single glove for either ther left or right hand.  I'm thinking bull or bronc riding.

Wow, does that go inside the house or outside?

If outside it's the most bad*** lawn/garden gnome in the history of the human race...

Do you know who makes it or where you friend bought it? I wouldn't mind having one of my own.
