WWII American Infantry uniform PLEASE HELP
Posted by jetmodeler on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 8:45 AM

I am painting Italeri's 1/72 american infantry and the painting instructions on the back say to paint the jacket field green and the pants tan.

Are those the right colors to use? I thought the uniform was all OD with tan pouches.

If I am not painting them right can somebody please tell me the right colors to use. Or a refrence picture or a uniform from around about 1944-45.

Thanks

JT,

I use this great reference website anytime for WWII Americans Army.  The uniforms changed from the beginning of the war to the end and their colors rarely matched if you made them stand next to each other.  They even wore brownish colored pants too.  At the end most of the uniforms turned more greenish in 1945.  But the equipment has remained with the same color khadi (tan color).

Hope this helps... good luck!
