The TCs in the original Tamiya M1 Abrams and M2/M3 bradley kits woud work if you are looking for guys in just the fatigues. Use some Verlinden or Hornet heads for teh older style CVC helmet. Or the Tamiya 4.2" Mortar crew modified could work too. And as you said the older Tamiya command group such as the ones that come with the M577 kit and can be found seperately. Pickings are gonna be pretty slim for that uniform style.

Looking for a 1/35 US tank crew that would work as a National Guard crew circa 1970.  Something with out flak jackets. 

Does anyone make something like this, or is there something that might work other than the old Tamiya plastic figures?
