Posted by krow113 on Monday, February 15, 2010 2:41 AM

Jaguar 120 mm 'Close Call Tommy' . I would call this a soft conversion .Top of head cut off for helmet fitment , hands cut off helmet ,left arm.Verlinden replacement hands ,spare head lookin' on! elaborate base planned . This piece will be my great grandfather ,fought at the first battle of Ypres ,died of his wounds in England. To be completed Oct 2010preprim5.jpg picture by krow113

Here some base details goin' in...................

base7.jpg picture by krow113

Duckboard is scratched basswood. Corrugated sheet is brass .Mr.Parkins mailed my order today ,so I look forward to adding more details. I also am waiting for Verlindens 'All Quiet on the Western Front'  for the German details. I have already ; Verlinden 120 mm barbed wire , Skulls and Bones . I have been sculpting the foam on the fly ,spraying the spackle in to the new areas and splattering it on the details ,numerous washes and oils with a final soaking wet gloss coat to come. Accy's and detail to be weathered/muddied in situ.

Your base is larger than i first thought....Stick out tongue. When i looked at the pic in which you have the spray can it looked small. Now that you add some corrugated iron and timber boards it has a sense of scale.

  Looking great!

All that is missing is the Verlinden barbed wire.I will also have to make the curious stakes that hold the wire. You will see where I 'sculpted' the foam under the paint ,easy enuogh to gouge the foam and repaint ,this is ongoing as the details find there homes.

Awesome! Yes I am loving the groundwork. To be honest with you at first I thought it was little excessive with those skeletons but I liked it now as it reminded me of all great WW2 comics I read when I was young.

Dpanzer -Thanks, comments welcome , I was a little on the careful side regarding the bones etc. Reading about these battles ,the conditions in the trenches , it would be impossible to accurattely depict the scene w/o remains. The skulls ,etc here are a little stark in white primer , they will be darkened  and sculpted with more mud ,they are by no means the reason or the focus of this piece . I got some knarly tree pieces today for some more detail.

First colors applied ,very thin mix to retain details .Only a few colors but watching the base change from the beginning is gonna be one of the best parts of this wip.

A two headed Tommy !!!? Not even Krow 113 would try that!

The horror... the horror...

I found your other WIP at last - good tip with that name Steve!

The base is really strong. Shows how bad the people in the trenches had it. I'm going to watch this one too! Good luck and have a nice day

Pawel
