Modelchasm....    Just did a google images search for  'military rifle targets' and there are some good images there. You could just find one you like and print it off and stick it too a backing board and mounting.....Big Smile

Modelchasm....  i just had a brilliant idea, well i think it is brilliant....lol. As the figure appears to be posing, why don't you make a target of some sort on which your sniper has scored a pin point accurate hit. Right on the bullseye! You could have the sniper posing in front of the target. Maybe you could name the viginatte 'crack shot' or 'two mile shot'. Something to make the viewer understand how good these guys are at their profession. It would explain the lack of equipment too as the guy would be on a training range....

Something to that effect anyway. It would really utilise the stance of the sniper and tie it all in. Just my thoughts.....Big Smile

Thanks Grimmy and Mic ....

I've been trying to figure out just what this figure is "saying" but I think a "posing for the shot" is just about right. We'll be trying some different things out and we'll go w/ what's best.

Thanks again for all the kind comments. We'll try to get a little more done this week ....

As impressive as your painting skills are, I am really looking forward to seeing what you do with this one.

maybe he's just posing for as pic or he's at the range? no need to festoon him with heaps of puches and stuff. make the weapon the focus, not the figure.

Thanks Manny & Boom,

Looking forward to getting some paint slapped on this one. Boom, I too would really like to see this rifle w/ someone in the prone behind it. That would make a nice little scene ... something different.

Oh, and to answer your "weight" question .... it's about 40lbs loaded.

Thanks for the gun weight info modelchasm. Thats almost 18.2 kilos for those of us that live in a metric world....Big Smile

That's a great figure. Nice job on the assembly stage so far.

The .50 cal is huge!! I wonder what one of those things way's? Look foward to seing this one progress. I'm not huge on modern figures but this one is appealing. Maybe i just like the gun....Big Smile

It would be awesome to have a figure like this but in a firing position.

Ahhh ... you got me on that one .... still working on my morning coffee ...

You're spot on DP. In my experiences, the team will carry small assault packs which generally will have the spare mags in them. To my knowledge, I don't think they make a mag pouch for this beast. Consider this ... 1x mag, fully loaded w/ 5.56 for the M4/ M16 weighs approximately 1lb. As best as I can figure it, one .50 mag would weigh ~ 3-4lbs. Not something that you'd want hanging off your vest.

To "fix" this, I have another figure in the stash (120mm) that has an assault pack. The scales are a little different, but I think I can get away w/ it. I'm planning on casting a copy and using it for this figure. I think that this is a great figure, but I also think that its a little "front" heavy given the rifle. I think that the pack will help "balance" things out.

I didn't mention it before, but the figure does come w/ a pistol/ thigh rig, a eouple of pistol mags in pouches for the vest, and a couple of grenade pouches as well. There might be a piece or two that I add from my spares box, but for the most part, this one will be built straight OOB.

Glad you like it, Deaf.

MC, I really LIKE this!  By looking at your kit, it made me curious because I see no spare gun magazines carried by the sniper which is huge for that 50 cal size...  I never served in the military and you know why... so the spotter normally carries spare magazines of something like that?

You got my eyes glued for this... good luck!

Figured I'd post this one up since there seems to be a "sniper" theme going on lately ....

Received this kit as part of  "secret santa" exchange. First look at things show this to be a very well scuplted/ constructed kit. Fit of parts are VERY good and clean, although there are a few areas that will be a pain to clean up. This is a true 1/16 figure so its slightly bigger than the normal 120mm that I'm used to. This kit comes w/ 2x heads to use, so I decided to use the one w/ the helmet.

Only have about 2 hrs of work in this one so far, but I'm looking to get the primer laid on this weekend.

Like I said, fit went together really well. I've drilled everything out and will be using wire to set the joints. Here the figure is just "hanging" together using the wire. Its not glued up just yet.
