Then your SS-Mann will be wearing Feld-Grau wool with his camo.
Tankluver I wanted to make them look like waffen SS infantry in 1944. Would it look correct if I painted their pants in the pea dot pattern and left their tops medium green?

Tankluver: what theater of operations were you planning on for your WSS mann?
I may be splitting hairs but I was presuming a wool Feld-Grau tunic.
The alternate issue green twill Tropical jacket started out as a dark-non-feld-grau color. If the twill tunic was an early issue using natural plant fibers and the wearer lived long enough the jacket sometimes faded to lighter green.
However, the tropical was ONLY issued to units in Italy, Balkans and Ukraine (Manny-admit it - you saw 'em there).
Units in Western Europe and most of the Ost-Front would NOT have been issued the uniform.
As Manny said, remember the Waffen SS insignia was different than Heer.
...don't forget the insignia and rank looks different than Heer....

The color you want for the tunics is Feldgrau, or Field Grey... "Medium Green" is too... Well, Green...
Keep in mind also that the SS eagle needs to be added to the left sleeve if you're converting Heer figures..
If you want to show late war then camo mixed with feld-grau is possible due to supply problems caused by Allied air attacks......

I presume you are referring to the M44 camouflage drill uniform. The book Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen SS by Michael D. Beaver and J.F. Borsarello states the official introduction of the M44 camouflage drill uniform was 1, March 1944 with widespread use during the Battle of the Bulge.
As the march date is only the "official" introductory date, you might wish to check Waffen SS unit re-fit dates in published histories as this would be the most likely time they would be issued with new camouflage.
One example was the LAH SS which captured stocks of Italian camouflage during it's time in Italy after the Allies invaded the Italian peninsula in 1943.

So I got the cyberhobby type ommr railcar and it came with the German artillery crew. I was able to build them so they look like their in infantry poses. But the paint scheme is a basic almost medium field green. I wanted to make them look like waffen SS infantry in 1944. Would it look correct if I painted their pants in the pea dot pattern and left their tops medium green?
