Here's my latest, a 101st AB 200mm figure from Mirage of Poland. Great kit.

I've updated the images, as the first ones weren't too hot. You can see the rest on my non-ship stuff webpage, www.njahof.org/models/jeff_index.htm

Holy cow ....that is one excellent paintjob, Jeff!
Did the base come with the figure?

Jeff,

This is an awsome build. The whole effect and presentation is very impressive and top notch.

How did the kit go together?
What did you use for paint?
Is the backdrop and ground work part of the kit, or did you make that?
Do they do any other figure kits like this?

The kit comes with the resin base and the brick wall, but I added the wooden base, 101st logo and jump wings.

The kit was built pretty much straight from the box, I did remove some of the heavy pattern on the webgear though, it looked like cordouroy in some spots.

The face was done with oils, and the uniform was done with acrylics, I used Tamiya Khaki Drab and Desert Yellow. I gave the uniform a couple of washes, the first with black india ink and Tamiya thinner, then some dry brushing of the base colors, then a wash of burnt umber, and some additional drybrushing of lightened colors on the high points, eventually using a very light gray-green for the highlight areas. Everything on the uniform was done with Tamiya, Pollyscale, and India ink.

The weapon was painted with Metallizer burnt metal (since most Thompsons weren't blued) then drybrushed with old steel. The sling was originally a resin part, but I used Christmas ribbon cut into strips and painted. It's got the right texture and pattern, and was far more believable than a resin part. I made the swivels from brass rod.

I do WW2 reenacting, so it was real easy to match colors and equipment colors, since I have most of this stuff in 1:1 scale (although I carry an M1 Carbine and not a Thompson). So the colors are spot-on with the WW2 issued stuff I have, scaled down of course.

The stencils on the smoke grenade and Hawkins mine are data stencils from some 1/48 decal sheet for P-47s!! No decals or stencils are included in the kit, and you can't read the stencilling anyway... for the US stamps on all the equipment I used some model railroad dry transfers that looked close.

Mirage does a whole series of these kits, my next one is a 29th ID Lt. coming ashore on the beach at Normandy. This is the photo of the kit (not my work). My only problem with this one is that it looks too mcuh like Tom Hanks, so I'll be altering the face somewhat.

Here's the website of Mirage, they've got some great stuff. My next project will either be the British para or the U-boat officer...

Thanks guys...I need some better photos, these are a tad dark, and the links don't seem to work. Anyone else having that problem or is it just me?

You did an excellent job of placing the placque items next to the resin base.

Makes for a proud display on any desk :)
