1970's MPC "Pirates of the Caribbean" Models
Posted by oscardeuce on Monday, November 22, 2010 2:07 PM

I just spoke with the very nice folks from Round 2 models. They do have the molds and would consider re rereleasing these kits. I'm sure the license from Uncle Walt woul be huge, but maybe if we call them and ask, they will release them.

I called and voted.

Any one else interested, these kits are going for big bucks on ebay.

Thanks

What do these kits look like, I do not know them.  Could we get pics?

I'm surprised no one else seems interested.

The kits look awesome! I never knew they existed. Thanks for the link, and for the hope that they'll get re-released some day.

Please call round 2 models, and request they produce them. I'd buy them all in a second.

They're based on Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride in Disneyworld (or is it Disneyland in CA?).  They had operating features powered with rubber bands, and if I recall, they were cast in glow-in-the-dark plastic, too, at least for some of the parts.

My best friend when I was a kid had a couple of these kits.  I never did, but they are fun.

Best regards,

Brad

I never had any of the Pirates models, but I did have one or two of the Haunted Mansion ones, I know for sure I had Play it again Sam, and the Grave Robber's Reward looks familiar.

This type of model isn't my normal interest but I would get the whole series of both if they re-issue them.
