Painting US Uniforms and Equipment
Posted by jeffriesr on Friday, December 24, 2010 11:08 AM

I need some help with Painting US uniforms and Equipment from WW II.  What colors, types, brands, etc. for uniforms, equipment (belts, jackets, helmets) and individual weapons.  New and faded uniform items.  I know how to paint and shade them, but I would like some help with authentic coloring.  Any experts out there?

I have an excell spreadsheet that lists uniform items with vallejo colors to paint them. Also has example pics of some of the items that I took at a local museum. I can e-mail it to you if you like.

Take a look at www.atthefront.com.  This is a supplier for WWII U.S. and German re-enactors.  His stuff is absolutely authentic.  He also has links to other information.  He has on-line articles showing the range of "khaki" colors extent during WWII.  His equipment offering coverS darn near everything.  Its not only a cool site to buy uniforms and equipment, its also very educational.  All of the colors are absolutely authentic.  You can use these as guides for your paint selections plus the photos are very detailed.

When I taught History, I put together WWII impressions of both a German and U.S. Army officer.  Did a "living History" unit for my classes when I covered WWII. 2 cents

PM sent. I'd love to see that spreadsheet.
