Need name of manufacturer/kits
Posted by jackball74 on Saturday, January 22, 2011 9:35 AM

Back in the late '80s there were a series of plastic kits depicting futuristic suits of body armor. I believe they were all German and hypothetically used during World War II. The boxes they came in were very spartan, made of plain cardboard, and featured one picture on the top with all lettering in a simple font. I haven't seen these in quite a while and assume they are no longer produced - does anyone know the name of the maker or the names of any of the kits?

You are thinking of the old Nitto "SF3D" series (later to become known as "Maschinen Krieger"). This was a series of armoured fighting suits, one-man spacecraft and vehicles with German-inspired names and in some cases, colour schemes.

More recently, new-tooled kits have been released by Wave and Hasegawa.

There are lots of them and more being made.

One of the guy's over on the RPF forum sells copies of the ones he makes at Cons in Japan.

Hobby Link Japan and Starship Modelers usually has a decent amount of kits and some of the more mainstream stores sell some of the kit's as well.

I'm not into Ma.K but doe enjoy the details and paint jobs that have been done on them,
