Conversion of nude stripper kit to Rogue (of X-Men)
Posted by Ed Wong on Thursday, February 3, 2011 2:00 PM

As usual I struggle to figure out which forum to post my "figure model" kits info to. So this time I'll pick this one ? I think you may be interested in the latest model that I just finished making ? I just made one of a character called Rogue. There is no kit of this character that I know of, so I essentially made my own from a kit of a "nude stripper". In the 19 or so years since I have been building these types of models, this is the one I may be the proudest of since I pretty much made everything myself !!

If interested, it can bee seen at the bottom of my Marvel Comics gallery at
http://wonged.com/marvmods.aspx
or as a direct link to the "step by step" page, where I show how I made the conversion from nude stripper to Rogue, use

Nice conversion of the "Atelier It" figure, I have that one and about a half dozen others from them.

At one point I was thinking of converting her to Tarna from Heavy Metal but ended up just making her fully nude, still needs to be painted.

There are a few Rogue kit's out there one released last year I believe.

You might want to go over to the Club House and Statue Forum.

Statue Forum is more mainstream stuff like collectible figures (Lots of comic stuff) , Club House covers everything Girls, Monsters, Comics, Anime, etc.

Great conversion, Ed, thanks for sharing that, and for the info on your page, too.  You've done some great projects.

Super cool! Looked over your site and wow, lots of great figures. Yes

I was really impressed by your Heroclix conversions. Aren't they the soft rubbery plastic like the old plastic toy soldiers though? I've tried to modify figures like that and had problems with cement sticking and the paint flaking off them. Would love any tips you could toss my way.

I've had similar problems converting these guys to Warhammer 40K standards and I've discovered that if you soak off amy paint. (some are molded in color so they are not painted per se) in Simple Green which also removes mold release agent, you will have better adhesion and then prime them with Krylon Fusion.  This paint is designed to stick to the new plastics that outdoor furniture is made from and hobby paints stick well to the Krylon Fusion.  Use the Simple Green full strength and test it first.  Some plastics are attacked by it but I have not had that problem yet.  Simple Green is also good for soaking off the plastic chrome that some models and toys are coated with since I've never found that stuff to look all that convincing.  Hope this helps.
