German MG Team Tamiya 1/35
Posted by DerOberst on Saturday, March 19, 2011 7:06 PM

Hi there.

I just completed a build of the German Machine Gun Team from Tamiya.

I plan to use them in a diorama, but completed them first.

I used Tamiya acrylics, Model Master enamels, and Winston Oil paints.

I have not added any dust and dirt, as I will wait until the dio is complete then make them blend.

Comment and suggestions welcome.

Wow!  Very well done.

How about following behind a Panzer III or IV?  Movement to contact situation?

The figures look really, really good except real infantrymen's helmets have the crap scraped out of the tops and edges with great variations from helmet to helmet.  I think if you add just a little of that it would really snaz up the awesome figures.

WOW!  They look great! Yes  I am having hard times beliving that they are really Tamiya figures.  Must be a new released set?  My LHS usually sells those so I might get it next time... Whistling

Thanks for the kind word.  I apppreciate it.

The dio I am thinking about is a roadside re-fueling scene.  A Marder parked on the shoulder, with a SWS halftrack backed up to it.  It will hve some troops loading fuel drums, with the infantry walking down the road.

Somewhere in Russia, 1943.

As for the helments:  yes, they need to be dinged up.  I was holding off until I got the Dio going, and had a better idea of exaclty how muddy and dinged these guys should be.  Right now they are pretty clean, and will need to get a little dusty and muddy for a dio.

Thanks!

Thanks, Ron.

Everything I know about painting figures I learned here on Finescale.

There are a number of excellent threads that explain how to paint the uniforms, drybrushing, painting faces, painting realistic wood, etc.

The only advice I would offer is to have the right tools.  And for painting figures, nothing beats a good magnifying visor.  I don't even try to paint small stuff without magnification.

THe other essential item is a SMALL paint brush.   Micro-mark sells some extremely fine brushes that are critical to getting paint in small places.

Armed with info from this website, the rigth tools, and a little practice, you will do great!
