What type and manufacture seems to work best with figures? I'm getting back into painting and using some old Winsor Newton Series 7 for oils.  I don't like to use them with acrylics.  Any suggestions from the pros?

Thanks.

Hello Olde Painter.

I'm no pro but i use SABLE brushes for all my painting needs no matter what model i am painting.

I have used them with enamels, and acrylics, and i have had no problems.

Hope this is helpful.

Olde~ Not going to find many "pros" on this Forum.    Good figure painters everywhere will recommend those same W&N series 7 & that you already have--they are the best that exist for miniatures---however--I'd recommend you get a "new" set of them just for acrylics as switching back n forth isn't really desirable. Other than that you can get some decent $3-$6 synthetics these days they just won't last all that long Loew-Cornell Liners and flats are some of my favs.

I use sable for most things.  I also have some synthetic bristle brushes which I like and which are very good.

Brush preference and selection are entirely up to you.  Use what you like best.  My only advice would be to purchase good quality brushes of your choice (pay a few bucks for each) and keep them in good shape.
