How do I Build a Good base.
Posted by Master Modeler 505 on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 2:57 AM

Hi

Last time I posted something on here every reply I got back was someone saying, that I should know I’m a Master Modeler. That is just a name it does not mean anything. I just wanted to ask if anybody knows how I could make a really good base for my war figure. Also I wanted to know what kind of clue I should use to glue him on.

Thank's and could you please help!

MM

Once again try the search feature located on the right >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Just search the diorama category, it will direct you to the information you need.

I usually drill metal pins in the foot of figure models and drill a corresponding hole in the base. I prefer using white (Elmer's) glue to attach as them as the glue can be softened later on with rubbing alcohol. It drys clear flat so a bit showing will not mar the look.

You probably will get some comments on the MM name, roll it off and don't let the peanut gallery get the last laugh by teasing.

Master Modeler 505

Hi

Last time I posted something on here every reply I got back was someone saying, that I should know I’m a Master Modeler.

There were nine replies to your first post. Six gave specifics and one of which was quite detailed. Two took issue with your name and one was nothing more than a smiley whose meaning wasn’t immediately clear.

For those 6 helpful responses, there was never even a simple “Thanks, guys.” Link to your first post and responses.

Your next two posts are again “Help me!”

That is just a name it does not mean anything.

Yeah,it does mean something. It's the only way anyone here can identify you. Choosing such a moniker says a lot. Also, having a bit of information in your profile such as age and general location might help. As you've already noted, your screen name may cause you some difficulties. You've had 3 posts, all asking for advice and no indication you've taken any of it.

I just wanted to ask if anybody knows how I could make a really good base for my war figure. Also I wanted to know what kind of clue I should use to glue him on.

Thank's and could you please help!

There's inadequate info here.

What is a "war figure?" Be specific about the figure and you may get usable answers.

What do you mean by base, groundwork or a plinth on which the figure is displayed?

Do you want to build a diorama around your figure or just add a bit of groundwork?

Do you want a, pardon the pun, basic base or do you want something a bit more eye catching?

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

You can make a base for a figure out of almost anything.  For an easy start, look for a ready made decoupage plaque in arts and crafts stores.
