Alpine's Latest U.S. AFV Crew in 1/35 ~FINISHED~
Posted by *INDY on Monday, May 30, 2011 4:29 AM

This is "Crewman #2" from the latest set of U.S. tankers sculpted by Taesung.[I only needed the one for my purposes at the mo]This one is presented complete this time no fuss, no muss, no SBS--here ya go--

Usually I like to mix paint brands alot and use a bit of everything--but---this one is completed using only Vallejo acylics---though I did use a bit of graphite at the end on the helmet rim and a little dry pigments on the boots and to take the "new" out of the[ Patches by Archer]

Still at work on the vehicle this guy will be standing next to while staring--Stick out tongue--but I tried this shot with an old Dio as a bit of background

Looks GREAT, Indy! Nice variations of the somewhat "monotone" uniform these guys sported.Face looks nice and battleweary.

I picked up this set a couple months back, and am looking forward to gettin' 'round to 'em. Can't wait to see yours with the finished vehicle.

Hmm where did I see this before?  Again, beautiful work!  Bow Down Bow Down Bow Down

You just made me realize that I should have added patches to my tank commander for Chaffee if you recall.  Did they all have patches or not always?

You just made me realize that I should have added patches to my tank commander for Chaffee if you recall.  Did they all have patches or not always?

Answer:  Not always.  Large colorful patches were frequent targets for the OPFOR.  Infantry troops frequently/usually removed their's after a few days in combat.  A smaller, less visible patch might be retained.  I realy is amazing how visible bits of color are in the field at distance.

Check photos of troops a week or so after D-Day.  Not many, if any unit patches are displayed by combat roops.

Armor crews, insignia not so visible inside an armored vehicle.

Best to consult actual photographs to decide.  However, your build, your money, your choice.

Oh, by-the-by, another beautiful figure.  Your works serve as instruction manuals for the rest of us.

Chazzer, don't fall for that trap!  I think it is a real picture of Adam (Indy) posing in from of a Sherman at a local VFW post near him.  It can't be fake... way too real. Big Smile

Well guys I got some nice comments from Taesung Harmms [who is the sculpter of this figure, of course] Now he was not blown away with my painting of his figure, not suprisingly, as he works with literally the best figure painters on this planet, but offered some kind words of wisdom, a bit  of praise, and graditute for my oun very high regard for his talent.

Thanks for the kind words.

Good effort here. I like the way the front part of the
jacket was painted. I can see the brush strokes, and
it's quite expressive.

Have you been to figure sites such as Planet Figure
and Timelines Forums? If not, it's about time. happy.gif

These days, many AFV modelers are top level builders.
What will set you apart from rest of the pack is
figure painting skill.
