I am going to keep my eye on this one. The uniform looks great. Tones look perfect.Yes

For the face, Bodge did an amazing german figure in 1/10 from Young Miniatures and did a good face painting toot at the beginning.

Here is the LINK.

It helped me a lot when I was learning how to paint faces.

Well i am going to try and improve my 1/35th faces first, got a few dio's to finish. Then i will try a larger bust. Have seen a few Roman and WW2 german ones i like the look of.

Deffinatly a nice price.  Might have to try that myself.

Yep, I am , or was, the same way as you. Hated doing faces in 1/35 and thought larger scales would be even harder. But with 90mm and larger you have more surface area to paint, and you can see what your doing. Well at least that's what I've come up with to convince myself to try a fig. LOL

I got this and two other busts on ebay real cheap, direct from Verlinden., paid less than $15 each, can't go wrong at that price.

cheers

This is looking very nice. I would like to do some large busts, but like you i have never been able to get good faces. I find it hard to do good ones in 35th scale, so that has always put me off larger scales.

Vietnam GI ...200mm Verlinden bust
Posted by scratchmod on Saturday, June 18, 2011 11:11 AM

Hi all. This is my very first post and attempt at painting figures. I needed a break from building and painting rust buckets and thought I'd try my hand at figs. The kit is a 200mm bust from Verlinden and depicts an Army Lt. in Vietnam.

I started with the uniform since that's is for me easy enough to do. I have always had problems painting faces so I never really finished a fig before. I used acrylics, AK effects and some oils to paint the uniform. Still more work to be done, this is as far as I got yesterday.

A big thanks goes to my good friend Chris Spalding for his support and guidance on this venture of mine into the world of figures. More can be seen here :

Thanks for looking.
