Just for something different, I've built and painted this Bison from Atlantis. Nice kit that benefits from a little epoxy putty and layered painting.
Comments and critiques welcome!

Nice Aaron! I'm trying to learn how to paint animals, I have a couple horses and cows for dios. (I can hardly paint figures though, maybe I should master that first?)
Now thats different. I've never really been able to get the right look on animals, but it looks like you've nailed it.
I grew up in Buffalo, NY. You have my seal of approval. Great work on the bison!

Nice job, Aaron! That kit originated with Aurora, didn't it?
Did you use any particular approach to the texture of the coat? That's often a challenge, painting fur convincingly.
Best regards,
Brad

Thanks, Brad.
Yes the kit did originate from Aurora. Atlantis has also released the Black Bear and Cubs and the White Stallion kits. The Bison needed a little extra work to look really good, mostly Apoxie Sculpt along the seams to better blend the fur and hair.
Most of the painting was dine with an airbrush, layer various colors and shading highlights and shadows. Then I applied different washes and dry-brushed several shades to get the layered hair effect.
Hey Aaron-
That's a lot of bull!
"Well...you gunna pull them pistols, or just whistle Dixie?"
Thanks for the explanation, Aaron!
I wish I still had the old Aurora kits that I had when I was a kid, the Cave Bear (a re-packaged Grizzly) and the Sabre-toothed Cat. I'd like to tackle them with better techniques. The Wooly Mammoth is availble, I think, from Revell-Monogram.
