Need help finding references for German & Allied uniforms. Painting 1/35 Dragon's 2cm crew & would like to know what color to paint the shoulder boards. If anyone has book titles or web sites, much appreciated!

Osprey makes a great series of books on uniforms. There are more titles than I can easily name. Also Concord makes some great books as well.

Re-enactor supply sites are worth checking.  One I used when I taught History was At the Front Militaria.  All items are in color and they are historically correct.  The web site also has articles about the actual uniform items with lots of photos.  They include both uniforms and fieldgear.

The link is http://www.atthefront.com/

Painting 1/35 Dragon's 2cm crew & would like to know what color to paint the shoulder boards.

Luftwaffe, Heer, Kreigsmarine, or Waffen-SS?

M-36 tunics for the Das Heer (Regular Army) Truppen would be Bottle Green (as are the collars) and  field grey (Tamiya makes the closest color-match, according to the actual Heer uniforms in my collection of both original and reproduction tunics) for all later versions...

The piping (Waffenfarbe, or Branch colors)around the outside edges would be those of whatever units they're organic to (white for Infanterie, red for Feld artillerie and heavy FlaK, pink for Panzertruppen, black for Pioneer (engineers), orange for Feldgendarme (MPs), etc., and NCOs would have silver tresse around the edges of the shoulder-marks and collars in addition to the Waffenfarbe..

Luftwaffe would be feldblau on the boards, and the collar patches would be red.

Waffen-SS are generally the same as Heer.

Dunno about Kreigsmarine
