Looks pretty good!
My one critique would be that he is wearing a SS uniform, but has army helmet markings. You may want to swap those out for SS markings or a plain non service marked solid color helmet

He stole the parka from a SS supply Depot.

Nicely done.  Those German camo patterns are tough on the figures and you nailed it.

So I guess you were waiting for the paint to dry? Stick out tongue

I moved back in 2014 so it took me 9 years after that to get back to it. Plus I might want to attempt Dot44 fall camo.

Well, it was worth the wait- fantastic job there, the camo looks great! Yes

That isn't all

Well it's been 11 years since my last post about this figure. I have since moved 2 years after that post and have recently in the last few days revisited this figure with a redo of the face and added the last two pieces I forgot about 11 years ago.

well I'll probably be airbrushing the Dull coat as it is still too cold for the rattlecan dullcoat but never fear I have a jar of Model Master Dullcoat laqure that I can use in the Airbrush. Even have a jar of glosscoat as well. I really do need to get the rest of the kit on before I dullcoat. And another thing on the list to do is to create a sling for the MP44 before even installing that but the MP44 could be put on after dullcoat.

Difficult to comment on how well you managed to replicate the pea dot pattern.  Overall looks too green, but that could be the lighting.  From both samples and artwork, brown and ochre appear to be most prevalent. Waiting on that dull cote as that will brighten up some of the tones.

Panzer_Grenadire noted that it looks like too many dots - again this "busy" look  could be a result of having the dots overlap one another.

Here's another sample http://www.kamouflage.net/camouflage/00117.php

The above site won't allow  a direct image link.

Nice work and I hardly wait to see him finished....

I think you put too much dots, the camo pattern starts looking like Peadot....Wink

LOL I believe that is the effect I am hoping to go for. Honestly if someone came out with 1/16 scale camoflage decals like they already do with 1/35 scale the job would be easier and more fun.

Not really much done other than getting the helmet painted then attached to the head and adding the helmet decals. Been pretty busy with the other figure as well as other work involving snow and ice removal from my home.

I'll probably try to fix the missing dots don't know what to do after that other than declare that part of the painting over and get onto finishing the assembly of it.

I got the head attached and the eyes painted so now I'll probably try to get some more work done on the uniform and try to blend the camo in.

I'm going to get back to trying to do the filter wash on the uniform so I decided to try and work on his head paint is Model Master warm skin tone with a wash of Burnt Umber.

though when I did the was some small bits of flesh paint came up but I corrected it by painting it over with more warm skin tone paint and with the Burnt Umber still wet I got the skin tone I was looking for LOL.

Dots camo on 1/16 figure... you are braver than I am.  It will look good once you tone down with filler to bring the camo together.

I was figuring on dot filtering the camo plus a dull coat as well. I actually picked up brushes and oil paint from Walmarts last year and a large can of mineral spirits from the local hardware store.

Ok guys I got the hood done didn't take me long to do as it was a small part and now I am working on the acessories.

I have the Bayonet affixed to the figure and I based the painting of the scabbard and leather frog off of and example I own.

I got the painting done on this and boy was it tiring too many dots I hope I'm not cross eyed after this LOL.

Here is what he looks like armed

I still need to finish painting the open section of the parka the reverse color and also do the hood.

Honestly I think Dot44 camo is actually easier to paint than splinter camo.

small update I did a small revision with the camo scheme to make it look more like the Autumn camo scheme.

I'm going to try to get the other color dots in before the end of the week. Believe me it is alot of dots! Ick!

Is this more of what you are aiming for:

You'll have to slow down your painting technique, and as you can see it is more than just dots (and much smaller too).  There is a pattern of colours and the dots should be added afterwards.

Dot 44

This is a nice figure though.  Did one about five years back - Link

To be honest I was trying for the autum Pea pattern which was made up by a series of dots I think I could add more dots to get it done more.

Hi! Can't wait to see the finish product, looks like I'm going have to get that kit myself.

Here's a few pics of a reversable parka I have in the 5/6 fall oak pattern. I use the parka or my smock as a paint guide when painting Waffen SS figures.

as for the weapons I am using Life Colors Guns and weapons paint set

the MP44 and MP40 were both painted with Gun Gray paint from the Life Color set and what is amazing about it is you mix the paint with the supplied reflecting agent let the paint dry completely before polishing the paint with a stiff bristle brush (I used a toothbrush)

but of course in the above pics the MP44 at the top was polished in the manner described and the MP40 wasn't polished as I set it up as a before and after type of pic. The results with the polished Gun Gray look similar to Tamiya Gunmetal.

BTW I have no clue why the first 3 pics don't show up but when you click the yellow bar under where the pic is they show up in the popup.

Photobucket is acting funky right now it won't show the pics of the weapons or the lifecolor paint for some reason so I am direct linking to the photos.
