I'm practically almost done with this figure need to finish up the plastic base then fix the paint job on the boots and then figure out which head to use. Though I am leaning towards the head that looks like Captain Kirk.
BTW the Epauletts on the figure are the parts that had the raised buttons on them and the decals were for the parts that were smooth. A little Solve-a-set and the decals conformed perfectly to the raised parts.

Ok now I did up the hair and it looks pretty good and actually looks like a Dishwater blonde hair color. hair coloring done with artists oil paint.
first go at "dirtying" the blonde hair
final look
BTW eye color is a testor brand color by Boyd which is Pacific Blue.
Also funny thing the head sculpt looks suspiciously like William Shatner especially with the hair color.
here is the other half of the update
here are the heads with the Iris's painted
I'll probably tone down the hair a tad with burnt umber but I really don't know which head to go with.
Here is part of todays update
The whites are added to the eyes
ok guys here is the start on the heads and hands base color is the same as on my other thread Warm Skin Tone.
here is the MG42 all painted up and waiting for the sling to be attached.
just need to finish up the ammo drum painting since I am painting it field gray instead of gunmetal to give the MG42 a bit of color.
Looking good!
Andy
mike91978 I think it looks like you know what you're doing! The Fieldgray looks great. A very difficult color to get right

Thanks the Feldgrau color I am using is the Tamiya Field gray along with German gray for the undershirt. The leather Loadbearing equipment and boots are Model Master Acryl line Semi Gloss black. I still need to finish painting the Iron Cross before I glue it to his pocket and he also has a war wound badge as well which is the equivalent of the US Purple heart medal. The base is actually going to be temporary as I am planning to get the companion kit of the MG loader that has the folded Tripod commonly seen with the MG42 and it would look cool having both on the same base.
For the color for the MG42 I am using Life colors weapons and guns paint set and that set is awesome though it says use a stiff bristle brush I got the bright idea to use a toothbrush as that has stiff bristles and is much more easier to use and cheaper than some artists brushes.
New update got a couple of the Accessories installed and they actually look ok to the eye. And you can definitely see the undershirt in the front view.
little update I added the belt buckle and painted the undershirt collar as well as built the MG42 also hollowed out the muzzle and painted the E-Tool. It is pretty easy to paint these tools and accessories with the kit being 1/16 scale.

I'll be painting the MG42 with the same Life Color guns and weapons paint set as earlier.
almost forgot I painted this case as well.
I am also working on this figure alongside the Infantryman in reversible winter uniform kit and I am impressed with how good it looks so far. I am going to try and get as far as I can in assembly and painting before I get to the head and hands. the MG42 will also be painted with the same Life Color paint set as the other weapons in the other thread.
well not as many pics as in the other thread since it was simply Tamiya Field Gray for the uniform and Model Master Semi Gloss Black for the boots and Load bearing equipment. I'll be working at painting the exposed shirt collar shown under the uniform top german gray as I suppose that would be the actual color.
