German WWII Tankers and Soldiers colours
Posted by Konigwolf13 on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 6:40 AM

Working on some armor at the moment that has some figures. Typical instructions only give basic colouring.

Would be very grateful if someone could point to a site or post something giving some info painting WWII german uniforms (Heer soldiers and tankers, Waffen soldiers and tankers).

Thanks in advance

Basic color for tankers was black...field grey for foot soldiers and panzergrenadiers...

It can vary on what your building. Ifs it a tank, then yes, as Manny said, mainly black. But SS tank crews also wore camo. But there were other uniforms for crews of SP's.

Like everything German, there isn't a simple answer to this question. But it will help to know what you building and what period of the war its from.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Manny thanks for your as ever curt reply (but a curt reply is better than none)

Bish, I'm building Tamiya's Marder III M (Hungary 1944) with crew commander, 2 figures from Tamiyas" German tank crew ammo loading" and between 1 and 4 figures from Dragon's Panzergrenadiers (Supposed to be Wiking Division, Hungary 1945 so I figure I should be able to make the two work with some creative license).

For this build I'm not interested 100% authentic fact, I'm building the Marder for weathering practice and the figures because I have never done them before and need the practive for a more serious diorama I am working on.
