Well, you nailed buddy! There`s a few on Ebay, in a lot better shape than mine, but definately a Hubley toy! AND..it wasn`t a bulldog...I had the "Scotty" dog...realized that as soon as I saw it . I guess I won`t be giving the ol` horse a makeover afterall!  Thanks again for the "heads-up" Jon...Toast

Hey Jon!

It`s definately cast iron. There are absolutely no foundry or manufacturing marks/symbols. I`m thinking this thing might`ve come from my Great Aunt from Germany. I had an English Bulldog doorstop, from about the same period of this horse, and have no idea where it got to. I`d sure hate like hell to start re-habbing and find out I shouldn`t have..lol. How`d you know it could be a "Hubley" ? Gives me a starting point for research, which I`m not so good with so any help is greatly appreciated...thanks!

Hi Len,

Looks to me like you have yourself a Hubley cast iron horse doorstop. Could be worth something as they stopped making objects out of cast iron (if it is truly cast iron) in the 1940s. I mean, its obviously not in the best of shape, but perhaps you should ask around about it, or research it a bit to see what kind of a treasure you may have there. Just my two cents.

Hi ! I`ve had this cast iron horse-doorstop ever since I can remember and it looks like it`s been around long before my 45 years. Now, my daughter has taken it for her own and has asked me to "fix it up". It has huge seams, like an airplane kit fuselage, lengthwise the entire way. I wanted to know from someone out there, what could I use to fill these seams. I`m almost positive it`s made of cast iron. The other thing is, it may be an antique and if so, I`m not sure if I should fill the seams....what do you think?  Here`s a couple pics...thanks in advance!
