Zombie Bust COMPLETE!!
Posted by K-dawg on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 9:57 AM

Some of my good friends that are garage kit painters talked me into giving this zombie bust a try. I picked it up from John's Models the other weekend in Atlanta. It's my first time doing a large scale bust or a zombie... My friend Rusty Nail was very forthcoming with advice on how to paint it and get some good skin effects. I have been following his direction and this is what I have so far. This constitutes about 3 hours of paint work. There is still a tremendous amount to do but i like how it's going. Not to mention, It sure is fun to paint something without one eye on a reference book....
Most of the basic colors are acrylic and the shading and blood effects are being treated with MIG Abteilung oils

Kind of early in the prpoject to comment, but I like the eyes so far...vaguely translucscent and looking like there are cataracts happening.

What scale is this?

Looks great so far. Dead Your title is misleading, though, and make me think of Zombie Boobs. Stick out tongue

That looks sick! (both gross and cool). I love zombies and I am working on a 1/35 scale one right now.

It's one of my favourite shows on TV too. It may be part of a 3-4 way tie for first though.

Great process... my boys have to see this.  Everybody in the house is a big fan of Walking Dead too.  Keep it coming!

Thanks everyone... All Done with this one. Had a great time painting it and i'll do another down the road for sure.

I used almost entirely MIG Abteilung Oils to shade it as well as their Dark Wash... These preformed perfectly and the Dark Wash particularly well on the hyper detailed skin sculpting. Can't recommend them enough.

WOW! If zombies were real that's what they'd look like.

I suppose anyway, if it were a real zombie I wouldn't be standing around examining it. Smile Burger

Kudos sir!!!
