Hey guys, this is FineMolds 'Sandy' from a line of figures designed by Akira Toriyama. They're listed as 1/12? scale and somewhat odd with perfect scale weapons and equipment but the actual figure done as a caricature. I think the monster figure guys refer to them as 'super-deformed' which I'm not sure fits here or not.
I wasn't totally sure how to paint Sandy since the box top shows her as a white Euro-American but the instructions have an Asian looking Sandy. The figure's face looks more Asian-American to me so I painted her as such.
Hope the uniform is correct, the 'chocolate chip' was fun to paint. I'm assuming someone here that's worn this uniform will point out something I did wrong though. I am wondering if the current uniform is more or less the same cut as I might someday pick up another kit and try to do her with digital camo.
EDIT: Stikpusher pointed the original title of Infantrywoman would be wrong.

Well, since the M16A2 is 39" in length, she's mighty short... We didn't have A2s in 1991 though..
Like your work, as a modeler... Not wild about the model, as a DS Vet...
Kind of an "egg plane" deal. No pun intended....
That has to be one of the stranger figs I've seen. Camo is well done, but one wonders if there's a school girl uniform on under there....
And the hand on the rifle. Never point the weapon at anything you don't want to destroy.
Thanks guys!
I think you hit the nail on the head there Bondoman on being sorta the same type of silliness as the egg planes. Or the Japanese thing of 'kawaii' or making anything into a cute version. I don't think any disrespect was intended Hans - the same artist did a Japanese self-defense soldier in the same series.
I thought the pose of the hand over the rifle seemed a little odd too, I don't know much about firearms but I do know it's not a safe way to handle a gun. Guess I could have cut the hand off and rotated it while dropping the arm so she's holding it by the barrel though that would force me to cut the hand a couple of places to close it which I wasn't sure I could pull off without making a mess.
BTW: Link here to the figures on the Fine Molds site.

Looks great. I had a shot the WWII guy in the mid-nineties (the figure is 17 years old, yikes). The other ones I have in a similar style are Arnie from T2 and the alien chest-burster.
I think you did a good job of the uniform. Given that it is a fanciful figure, like the egg planes as you mention, I like it and think it looks cool.
just don't try to build a dio around it.

Lloyd: Great looking model there- he looks sorta like Ted Danson in 'Saving Private Ryan.' I've got that figure too and the WWII Soviet Infantrywoman. Some day when I'm in a whimsical mood I'll try to get one of the others painted up.
Herc: Yeah, unless I put her with maybe a Humvee on giant monster truck tires...
No such animal as a US "Infantrywoman", then or now. Combat Arms (and most SOF) is the last haven of American manly men. But that being said, nice work on the kit itself.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Thanks Stikpusher and you're right the term would denote combat service. I guess just female soldier would make more sense even though she'd be support personnel.
EDIT: Changed title to female soldier which I hope will be a little more accurate.
