I'm not sure how simular the uniforms are but Miniart  is coming out with Hungarian, French, and Italian tank crews. I don't have any of my reference materials here at work but maybe you could kit bash something with some of them and maybe a German set?

You know i was just thinking that, I know that Finalnds uniforms looked alot like the German army uniforms.  The picture you posted didnt seem to come up, is it the hungarian tank crew?

Funny, it came up at work but not on the home PC, dunno what's going on - maybe a browser thing? Or the size of the photo?

Anyway the MiniArt website is here:

http://miniart-models.com/

I dug out my copy of Osprey's 'Germany's Eastern Front Allies 1941-45' and they have one plate of a Rumanian tanker and in the text they describe the uniforms as similar to French and Czech designs.

I can't direct-link to the MiniArt site, you'll just have to go there, click on Catalog, 1/35 Military Miniatures, and scroll down to about half-way down the page, the Hungarians are dead bottom.

The MiniArt figures sets are:

35157 Hungarian Tank Crew

35105 French Tank Crew

35093 Italian Tank Crew

Hopefully there's something you can use there.

Hi Tankluver!

I did some research on the topic for a Romanian vehicle I built earlier this year and this is what I found out.

First, to my knowledge there are no 1/35 figures of Romanian tank/SPG crews on the market. You have to do some conversions.

The uniforms worn by tank crews was basically the Romanian infantry uniform m/1939, Here's a pic with the right colors of that uniform:

To this they had some other clothes:

1. During the summer they wore a light khaki tunic over the uniform.

2. Their headdress was a black beret.

3. Mostly they wore a light khaki overall over the m/1939 uniform. Around the uniform the wore a belt.

Here's a color plate of a tank crewman. The light khaki tunic seems to be in the right color, but the trousers shuold be in the M/939 uniform color (above):

Here's  the caption of the color plate:

Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

”Private of the armored troops wearing the summer campaign dress, Eastern front 1941-42. Tank men wore the M/1939 uniforms, similar to the other officers and men of the Romanian army. The beret of black color was represenative for the armored troops. NCOs and other ranks had no badge on the headdress. In the summer a duck tunic of a lighter shade of color than the cloth of the trousers  was carried. In the winter the tank men were equipped with cloth uniforms and wooled hats. For comfort reasons, but also to protect their uniforms, the Romanian tank crews often wore overalls made in khaki duck.”

Here's a b/w pic of a Romanian tractor, where you can see the commander wearing the overall:

And lastely, here's a pic of a SPG crew, where one of the members is represented wearing an overall:

So, if I were to build a Romanian SPG crew I would actually  look for a set of British tankers in overalls and berets! That' should be a good start for a conversion.

Hope this helps out!

The infantry uniform looks similar to that of the french army infantry uniforms during 1940. The picture of the Tanker with the beret almost looks like a German Uniform to me the beret resembles that of the German head gear. I like the idea of the British tank crew figures being used, what kind of modifications would I need to make, would the Mini art British tank crew be suitable for this?
Thank you for the pics and info. Oh and thats the same assault/spg I am building!
