Academy Starcraft figures!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 9, 2004 5:16 PM
Hi All.

At the recnt sale I picked up 3 of the Starcraft Figures (1 Marine & 2 Hydralisk) Kits.

Thinking of doing a quick ambush Dio.

Anybody builds these Kits??

Any caveats, thing to look out for??

They were/are right next to the Aurora Kits at one of the HS close by.

My Shop still has 3 of the critters and 1 Marine on the shelf, $6.50 & $4.50 respectively.

I think I also saw them listed on 3 or 4 Online shops, do a google on "Academy Starcraft".

Funny thing in Japan is that often we can't find recent Japanese Kits, but very old overseas models are on the shelf.

I haven't built the Marine (my nephew built that one) but I've built one of the Hydralisk kits. They go together easily. The only thing that some people might have a little trouble with is the fact that most of the kit is made of a soft vinyl, so trimming the flash from the mold lines is a little difficult. A sharp hobby knife and chilling the parts in the freezer to stiffen them is about all you need to do. Of course painting it requires the same precautions as painting any other vinyl kit.

If you're interested, you can see my build up at:

The marine kit goes together so easy. You don't even need to use glue. It has a feel of a gundam kit. I have yet to work on the hydra kit, but there is a lot of vinyl in that kit.

What is your ladder rating by the way?

Oh, I guess you don't play Starcraft on battle.net then. The ladder rating is rating system for gaming on battle net for wins and losses kinda like a chess rating.

It doesn't mean much these days since all the players that are on the ladder ranking are cheaters.
