Panty hose looks like it will do the trick! Thank you all for your ideas.

For very fine mesh, some tea bags work very well. I like the green tea from Starbucks or Coffee Bean coffeehouses just for this purpose. Or certain decorative ribbons from raft stores have a mesh of similar fineness

1/48th scale helmet netting?
Posted by Blackbelt2 on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 6:25 PM

I am painting and detailing some paratroopers for my 1/48th scale C-47 air drop diorama. The helmets on the monogram figures are bare and do not show netting. I am trying to find something to resemble the netting with no success. Bandage gauze is too wide, the spacing, and camoflage netting from Verlinden is also to large for 1/48th scale. Any suggestions? I suppose I could scribe the netting on the helmet but that would be a timely endeavor.
