They are available in about every scale, busts and full figures. The original poster only has to do a web search.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Moebius makes a large 1/8 scale mounted CSA general. It's the original Aurora mold from the 1950's but it's a decent kit. He could pass for Morgan.

Heh I bought that kit thinking the model was what the artwork on the box depicted but the model is not a horse and rider in a charge position but a horse and rider as statues, I wish the makers of these kits have the box art the same as the model inside I couldn't return it as I opened the box. I'm trying to figure a way I can make this into what the box art shows.   Karl

photograph what intrests you today.....because tomorrow it may not exist.

That sounds a little odd; nearly every figure kit out there has box art of the painted kit.  What's the kit and maker?

If you're trying to kitbash the rider into a more dynamic pose, it can be done, but converting the horse from standing to galloping or rearing is a little more difficult.  You'd be better off looking for a suitable horse, and putting the kit horse out to pasture in your spares box, in my opinion.

The Moebious figure of the Confederate Raider is actually the old Aurora mold from 1959 and the horse is a PITA to assemble. It took tons of putty and lots of sanding but comes out pretty good. The box art is depicted at full gallop while the actual figure and horse are at a standing ready position ready to charge. I built this particular figure which will be featured as a build article on FSM some time in the near future when they decide to publish it. Like you said, getting a replacement horse is the way to go if a full gallop stance is preferred.

Ah, OK, thanks, I missed that Starduster was talking about the Moebius kit.  I thought that he was talking about a more contemporary kit, like an Andrea or Pegaso.  Yes, that would be a box art painting, rather than a photo, just like the original Aurora boxing.  Those were the classic days of box cover paintings.
