To the hobby shop.
Posted by starduster on Sunday, October 6, 2013 11:53 PM

Friday I've done something I've never done before took two of my models to my local hobby shop to be on display for the month of October and being it's almost Halloween I chose two creepy models, one is Monarch's Ghost of Castle Mare and The Three King's resin kit Afraid of The Dark, I brought them to Bridgetown Hobbies 3350 N.E. Sandy Blvd in Portland Oregon. the guys are very friendly and they have a wide range of modeling supplies as well a well stocked hobby shop along with a gaming room for board role playing games. if you're in the area drop in and get acquainted. I think if we display models we build children may get excited about building models again our hobby may be at stake if we don't try.

My Shadow is always with me.

Good idea there, hopefully it will inspire some of the younger generation to try out a model or three. I've always heard about people building the old Aurora monster kits but I think I'm a little young for them- if the re-pops were a little cheaper I think they'd sell a little better to the kids though.

Only odd thing to me is couldn't they put your two models on separate shelves since they have the empty space???

I guess they could, the main case by the door is being cleaned out for a scale model car club so I was put in the game room case which I think is already filled if not then maybe they can be separated.   Karl

Ah ok, just wondering if they were going to move something else into the the empty shelves. They could even put a couple monster kit boxes in there too to show what they sell.  Wink

Agreed... I built so many of those as a young boy. I would not mind trying my hand on a few of them again if they were not so danged pricey. The copyright licensing prices are terrible for such kits. It was a non issue 40+ years ago when those kits were originally just the thing for a young boy.

I just took my two models and took them home from the hobby shop but put two more for display, the Mummy and the Octaman model, I've had positive responses from people seeing my models and the proprietors welcome models from modelers.
