1/96

Some of the best figures figures for Constitution are the ones originally provided in the Revell kit, which had exceptional detail.   Sadly, Revell stopped including that sprue with the later boxings of Constitution.

There are some maritime figures cataloged in 1/96, but, i have no experience with those.

Theres a rumor that Bluejacket may start selling some.

Plastruct, yeah the ABS material I beam guys, make big packs of 1/100 business people and city folks for architectural models.

But those Connie figures were great, and are really hard to come by now because they no longer come with the kit.

Micro Mark makes a good mold starter kit that has all the basics in one.

GMorrison is as helpful and considerate as ever.

He also surred me to use a bit of google-fu.

The Model Dockyard has 1/96 crew figures, along with quite a few 1/24 figures.  They're a Cornish company, so the shipping could be expensive.

Cottage Industry has some figures, but they are all American Civil War era.

I want to remember Model Expo was offereing--at one time--some 3/16" = 1'-0" sailors for their MS kits, but those would be 50% too large.

I had this same conundrum several years back. Firstly I contacted Revel to ask for more crew figures. The lady on the line sent me some more no questions asked. (This was around 13 years ago mind you.)

But alas even using heat to repose the existing figures, I needed MANY more. I got a jolt of inspiration when I was rummaging through my local game store's bargain miniatures bin and found a bunch of indonesian troops that were shirtless and even had the cannon implements. In addition, I found several bunches of napoleonic troops that were a spitting image of 1800 era marines.

The scale for these game figures are considered 15mm and represent 1/100 scale, and the proportions can vary wildly.  Some look spot on and some look very toy like depending on the manufacturer. I will post a picture of how it turned out for me soon as I get it posted. I highly recommend checking out places like The WarStore or any of the miniature manufactures who produce historical 15mm lines. Typically you get a pack of around 20 to 30 figs for anywhere between 8 and 20 bucks.

I will tell you that it was a labor of love and I cursed the whole time I painted thos 200 plus guys but in the end it was awesome!

I do not know if this thread is still active or not but here goes. I have the constitution kit that is around 3 feet long when finished. does anyone know where i can get the instruction sheet to build it. i have tried to build this in the past and have never completed it. i found this kit with everything stipp in the bags. i am hoping that this time i will complete it.

Rob, your post was for the smaller scale ship. That one has a single piece upper deck and only a partial gun deck.
