Here is my newly completed Polar Lights Guillotine less the basket and figure. It was built OOB and painted with MM wood acrylic for the base coat and burnt umber artists oil paint for the wood tone and graining.
The blade was painted with MM metalizers and rubbed with Rub n Buff for a metallic shine specially along the cutting edge. The two holes on the board is where a rope would loop over and secure the victim to restrict movement. Basket platform where the head dropped into a large basket.

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Now that is really nice, the effects on the wood are just amazing with so much variation in the wood. That is one lovely piece of model building PJ.
Gruesome, but lovely at the same time.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

I'll second that.
This is great, PJ! I also noticed the great woodgrain effects. No idea how you did it but a tip-o-the-hat to you from me for sure. The rope looks great too.
Wonderful work, and thanks for posting this.
Thanks Bish and Greg. I didn't get the figure and basket when I got this kit but wasn't planning on using them anyway. Just found it quite different from the usual models we build. It does look very creepy.
I did read through your other thread asking about the spelling, but I didn't post as I had no idea. Glad the guys were able to help you out.
When I first looked at the pics, I wondered if it could do with some blood on the blade. But then I decided that would ruin it. I think the fact that's its nice and clean, but clearly worn, and that we know what it was used for, makes it more menacing.

Thanks goose. I read somewhere it's 1/18th or so. It certainly makes an unusual display.
C'est magnifique!! Man, that looks real Ernie, excellent work on an unusual subject! "Let them eat cake" indeed.

That is a fine job on the wood grain painting, very realistic.
On the bench: So many hanger queens.
Sprue and shooter, thanks!
That looks great! I really love the wood grain finish. Now as for figures to give it some context... perhaps some French Revolutionaries or perhaps on a lighter note, Pugsley and Wednesday Addams...
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Thanks goose. That is a really cool idea. I'm not certain about the Guillotine's scale as I have read both 1/18 and 1/16.
Wow, yeah I'll agree the the wood grain effect there is perfect!!!

Thanks Gamera.
I entered my guillotine in the Region 11 IPMS show this last Sept. 20-21 in Orlando, Florida under the Miscellaneous Category and was surprised with a 1st place Gold, Best Out of the Box and Best Miscellaneous Subject. I wasn't expecting this but was humbled by the outcome.
Congrats on those wins !
Obviously, the judges thought your work was a cut above all the rest.
Thanks Goose! Hit me with a pleasant surprise.
Congratulations Ernie! That's great, well-deserved award and wonderful recognition of your skills as a modeler. Right on brother!
Head's above the rest even!!!
Seriously big congrads on your win!
Congratulations, Ernie! That's so very cool.
I'm with Gary, great skills are evident here, good to have them recognized.
Gary, Gamera and Greg thanks so much for the nice words.
Congrats, Plastic!
It truly is a wonderful build, and you deserve the accolades!
Once again congrats!
