FLCL Kanchi progress report.
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 13, 2004 2:16 AM
Hi All.

Just spend a few hours snipping away at the Kaiyodo FLCL Kanchi Soft Vinyl Kit and boy does the hand hurt. Big Smile [:D].

A very nice Kit that builds into a 40cm representation of the Robot, normally not into Soft vinyl kits but it is the only available offering.
Redeming factors are that the screen and a few other parts are clear vinyl and you get given some parts both in Vinyl and Resin.
Anther nice option is that the back of the hood also comes in 2 parts, one pre-cut and warped in my Kit and one that is not pre-cut and a lot more sturdy.

Tomorrow I will finish the trimming and start to sand the parts to get them ready for assembly.

I will also upload a small section to my web-site whre I should have some pics of the parts, as well as some additions to another section that I am not allowed to mention on here. Wink [;)]

[edit]
For the people that don't know Kachi here is a pic:

I think she will go under the block once she is finished.

Sorry, guys and gals.

Promised Kit update did not happen as my hand was smarting too much to get the Kit ready for the update.

Did the other update though and the items can be viewed now, just need to find 1 misplaced nozzle wrench tonight.
All Items are in good condition and will receive a very good cleaning tonight.

Will be adding slowly but surely more contents to the web-site as I go along.

She is from the Anime series FLCL (Fooly Cooly) and was made by Gainax, rather cool series I hear. Never seen it myself. Review here:

Got hooked on the Character after seing it at a few shows and the 1/1 scale display model at the Kaiyodo shop, didn't realise there was even a kit of it out till I went back to the Kaiyodo shop to look for another Kit.

Hmm..not familiar with it at all. I'm not really up on recent anime anyway, but Gainax is a name I know!
Interesting design. It's got the Honda P2/P3 (or newer) style legs.

Hey, is Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby still in Akihabara? They moved Osaka Hobby Lobby a while back from Shinsaibashi to Den-Den Town, but I've yet to drop in.
I keep meaning to pick up their old "Kyodai Legion" kit, but I never seem to have 20,000 yen on me when I'm in the vicinity!

Looking forward to seeing your build, MMF.

To the best of my knowledge they haven't moved, but akiba has changed a LOT in the last few years less electronics and moe anime stuff.
Last time I was at Hobby Lobby they had 2 Yellow Submarine shops(Gundam and Garage Kits) right next to it.

Need to head there again to see if the TECT shop is still open.
