Modern tank crew uniform question.
Posted by Gear Head 6 on Saturday, November 21, 2015 3:57 PM

In the recent past US tank crews wore camo; woodland or desert patern uniforms.  The box art and painting guide for the MB "Modern US tankmen in Afghanistan" figure set shows a tank crew in a solid sand beige with khaki vests.  Was this uniform only used/still used in the Middle East or is it the curent standard for all curent US tank crewa?

They are wearing NOMEX CVC (Combat Vehicle Crewman) Uniforms.  They have been around and used since the '80s.  Until the mid-2000s, they were only in medium green.  They started comin sand for use in teh Middle East as we started operating there regularly.  They are similar to aviator flight suits, which also come in sand npw.

The vest is an IBA (Interceptor Body Armor) bullet-proof vest.  It has been worn from about '02 up intil about '08.  The figures are supposed to be USMC, who wore Coyote Brown IBAs.  The US Army wore woodland and three-color DCU IBAs.
