I understand your frustration, but frankly, it doesn't bother me that the survey omits figures. We have plenty of speciality forums (eg, PlanetFigure, Timelines, FigureMad, and on and on), and specific publications, for figures, that if FSM doesn't cover it, I'm not missing anything.
Also, I think the community of manufacturers for figures is different from that of the scale modelers. It includes so many small manufacturers, including garage kitters, who are in relatively closer contact, than we are with Tamiya, Hasegawa, Revell, etc, and are able to respond faster. I think of the members at PlanetFigure who produce figures, for example, and are able to communicate via the forum, to collect opinions, suggestions, and other info, on subjects to produce.
I think if we compare the variety of figures available to us, in terms of the subjects depicted as well as in terms of scale, we have much bigger and better selection, than the average armor builder, say, or airplane builder. So I think we're doing OK.
