Question about Africa korps
Posted by JTRACING on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 3:19 PM

I like the looks of these figs and was wondering if they would work in an Africa scene? Is the clothing correct and would they be that color or the tan color stuff?

thanks for any info!

Short answer is "yes"...butt, you need to switch heads of figure on left since he is wearing an SS cap...the trouser style is mid to late-war that was made in a wool blend but I think you could get away with using them...I would use brown for the trousers and khaki for the shirts...low cut boots are typical...

Heer "Tropen" uniforms were a light olive in color. They faded into such a myriad of shades you almost cannot go wrong.

It depends, if you were going for the typical Afrikakorps look, then no.   I don't recall seeing any photos, nor in videos of the surrender in Tunisia, but one of my references does state there could be found  a mixture of continental and tropical gear very late in the campaign.

The fixes, most already mentioned, are quite easily attained with either a sharp knife or a different paint colour.  As far as gaiters are concerned, these too were issued quite late.

regards,

Jack
