Others must know, but when I did my couple of armor models of Egyptian forces in 1967, I used the US Mortar team figs from Tamiya, that have the Cold War era bloused trousers and high boots, with Russian helmets from a Dragon, I think Afghanistan set. I think the Iraqis were similarly equipped.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

So Vietnam era american uniforms are good choices for Iraqi soldiers ?

No.

The mortar team set is in post-VN uniforms (other than the LBE are all buckled, something mortar crews did not much do in that era.

True VN US uniforms would not work with their diagonal pockets.

The "weight" of the uniforms would be a good match, though.

Just have to make sure none of the figures are in body armor, as I'm not sure either side wore that during the Iran-Iraqi war.

I might have used modern Italian helmets for Iraqi, but soviet ones would be cloes enough (and easier to come by).

Iraqis have a mix of sand and OD uniform parts.  They have a semi-unique item that looks a bit like a hoodie crossed with a windbreaker.
