I'm painting up a couple Tamiya 35th scale figures to go in a diorama with an M26 Pershing. The guide that comes with the figures suggests XF-60 (Dark Yellow) for the shirt, XF-52 (Dark Earth) for the pants, and XF-57 (Buff) for the putties/stirrups/leggings but that doesn't seem right to me (early war maybe but not late war...?). Anyway, I'm wondering what colors everyone uses to represent late-war ETO US troops in the field (base color & highlight color) for the various uniform parts.
I'm also wondering if anyone has any wisdom to share as it pertains to painting stowage of the same era - specifically field bags, tarpaulin, canvas vehicle covers, and sleeping bags that are painted in XF-49 (Khaki). I was thinking of using a Khaki Drab base then highlighting with Khaki on top of that (I previously tried XF-49 as a base with Buff and Deck Tan for highlights which was a massive failure!!!).
Any help would be most appreciated!
